Winter Magic

Living along the lakeshore of West Michigan’s gorgeous beaches I have the opportunity to watch the crowds form from June to September along the beach. It is a celebration, an event, an experience, and the sugar sand beaches and whitecaps of the “big lake” are a refreshing respite from the daily grind. License plates from states all across the US appear in the lot and the festive warm gathering is a seasonal joy. But when the vehicles leave and lot is empty late in the year, I think about all those beach visitors who don’t get the chance to see the magical and enchanting metamorphosis as the cold north winds blow and freezing temperatures transform the environment into a lonely but beautiful place. The scenery is artistic, transforming and bides its time until warmth and visitors return. Here are some of my photos to give you a glimpse at some of that winter magic.
